Who Is IP Man?
IP Man is also known as Yip Man was born on 1 October 1893 in Foshan. He was a master teacher of Wing Chun Kung Ku and later he became the grandmaster of Wing Chun Kung Fu. His First wife was (Cheung Wing-Sing) who died in 1960 due to cancer.
Around 1955, he had a mistress from Shanghai named Shanghai Po, who also died with cancer in 1968. IP Man and Cheung Wing-Sing had several children, There sons are IP Chun and IP Ching and his there daughters are IP Nga-Sum and IP Nga-Wun and one son IP Siu-Wah with (Shanghai Po).
he had many students and some of them were (Bruce Lee), Leung Sheung, Lok Yiu, Chu Shong-in, Wong Shun Leung, IP Chun, Ip Ching, Leung Ting, Victor Kan, Ng Chan, William Cheun, Moy Yat, Lo Man Kam and among them, Bruce Lee was most famous and remarkable student.
In 1967, Ip Man and some of his students established the Ving Tsun Athletic Association and the motto of this association was to help IP Man to tackle his financial difficulties in Hong Kong.
Ip Man died on 2 December 1972 in Hong Kong due to throat cancer and after seven months Bruce Lee also died. IP wrote his legacy and his history with the global practice of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Many memories and artifacts of his life were collected and for his legacy, a museum was made in Foshan Ancestral Temple grounds as the “Yip Man Tong” museum.
